JAZZ SERIES —
AMERICAN ART MUSIC
The Sound Wall Jazz Series presents throughout the year a collection of weekend jazz residencies where world-class artists come to share their music’s vibrant energy. Audiences experience sensitive and spontaneous performances in the listening room of The Sound Wall, an intimate music venue and former historic home repurposed in historic downtown Opelika, AL.
Each show is paired with a musicians’ workshop the following day where visiting artists offer insights into their creative process and how the music’s history has shaped their work.
“One of the components of the whole series is we want people to be able to engage in a workshop,” said Rob Slocumb owner and operator of The Sound Wall. “The workshop is open to any kind of player, any instrument, any genre of music, any skill level. We want to try to encourage as many people to come and check it out.”
